 Six months on the road

What was not yet said here but for some mysterious reason I want to memorize it.

After cutting off around 15cms of my bizzarelly dry dead ends of my desperate attempt to have long hair, I colored them dark with henna. I never had such a dark color or such a short hair. It was for sure charming. Until the first wash, then it faded away. So I was shortly back to my not-blonde-not-brunette-not-red strange natural hair color. I tried.

I burned myself with hot coffee. I like to be dramatic, but it was just a little bit. It was an accident. The coffee was spilled on places you don't want hot coffee to be. Thomas run to the pharmacy for some gelly medicin. What a morning. Couple of days after that he burned his hand while cooking pumpkin soup. I know, what a dangerous activity. So the gelly medicine was quite handy. I think next time we travel, we will pack our emergency kit more preciselly. We never needed so much stuff from pharmacy as here in Zealand.

We saw seals in wildlife. Like two single ones. One in Mount Maunganui and one in Napier. Than we came to South Island and saw like 300 of them on a single beach the first day so the North Island's experience lost a bit of its value... but still, the one at Mount Maunganui was the first one!

It is funny how I became obsessed with makeup and fashion when I clearly cannot have it. When I catch internet in the van, I spend tremendous hours watching girls on youtube going through their closets. I cannot wait to be back home and have more options to express myself than hiking shoes and the same pair of jeans I wear since we left. The funny thing is that when I was back home, this minimalist wardrobe was exactly what I dreamed of. Since all the possessions don't disturb me in the van, the more desperate I am to start building my new self and show it to the world. Does this make sense?

When it comes to traveling, we have missed so much yet still experienced a lot. We skipped Coromandel, Taranaki and Raglan - places I still wish to see oneday. But on the other hand we saw the central part of the island in quite a detail, as well as Northland, Hawkes Bay and Bay of Plenty. For 6 months travels I am satisfied.

The variety of options you get while travelling is sometimes overehelming. Isnt it better to just pick couple of them and truly "feel" them through? Isn't it better with everything in life? With friendships, projects, love life...and traveling as well. Isn't it better to just pick the best for you and let the other options go away so they don't distract you? It is hard in consumerist society but I am slowly learning that this is probably the key to happiness. To make a choice and stick to it. To enjoy what comes with that choice.
